Thankfulness, joy and blessing!
It’s difficult to put into words what it means to me to volunteer at Bright Hope. How do you adequately describe the joy of seeing God’s own hand at work at the center, in the lives of the women and men who walk through our doors, as well as in the lives of all who serve at Bright Hope? God has allowed me to come along side and love people from all walks of life who have one thing in common – a pregnancy that they hadn’t planned and often aren’t sure how they’re going to get through the days to come.
To see a woman or a couple enter the waiting room obviously fearful and apprehensive, to cry with them and comfort them, to share facts and truth with them about the baby they’re carrying, to see their faces as they watch the ultrasound of their unborn child, to pray with them, and when the appointment is over – to experience their overwhelming gratitude for just being there for them – there are no words to adequately describe this blessing! I feel joyful and thankful to God for allowing me to reach out to them in His name!
Women tell us of abortions they’ve had in the past and have since suffered from emotionally. What a blessing to be able to let them unburden themselves and to share the hope of forgiveness through Jesus Christ – that nothing they’ve done is beyond Jesus’ forgiveness!
Many of our mothers desperately want to parent their babies but lack the financial resources. I thank God for the opportunity to be able to direct them to clinics, housing help including our own Door of Hope, WIC and Bright Hope’s Baby Boutique to buy baby and maternity items using (Baby Bucks) money they earn as they learn to be the best mothers they can be.
All this is just a portion of what Bright Hope offers clients. This is the place to be for anyone who has a heart to serve because you certainly get much more than you give! At Bright Hope, I see God multiply what we sow exponentially! I said I didn’t have words, but obviously I found a lot! In summary, the best words to describe what volunteering at Bright Hope means to me are thankfulness, joy and blessing!
